Guger Technologies OG (G.TEC)

Guger Technologies OEG was founded in 1999 in Graz. The company develops hardware and software for biosignal acquisition and analysis (mainly EEG and ECG). Currently, G.TEC is selling biomedical equipment in more than 50 different countries worldwide together with distribution partners in 12 countries and is the main worldwide supplier of brain-computer interface technology. The G.TEC technology received several innovation Awards in Austria between 2000 and 2005. Recently G.TEC received the 2006 GEWINN-Award and was rated the best start-up company in Austria out of 1500 companies.

G.TEC won the 2007 European Information and Communication Technology prize (ICT-prize) and the Well-Tech Award 2007. 2008 G.TEC won the Fast Forward Award and 2009 the Austrian prize for innovation Econovius.

G.TEC developed a flexible biosignal processing environment under Matlab/Simulink (MathWorks Inc., Natick, USA). The research and development department carries out hardware and software design in the areas of biomedical engineering, biofeedback and human-computer communication systems. The products are designed according to the medical product normative (EN60601) and are FDA approved for the US. G.TEC has several co-operation partners in different European countries (UK, Spain, Austria) and in the US (Wadsworth Center, NY).

Currently G.TEC has research funding from national (FFF, SFG) and European programs. Furthermore G.TEC was partner of the IST-IP project PRESENCIA from 2002-2005. G.TEC is currently involved in an EU funded IST-IP project called PRESENCCIA (contract no. 027731), Synthetic Forager, Renachip, SM4all and Rehabilitation Gaming System. Within PRESENCCIA G.TEC designed a P300, a SSVEP and a BCI system based on oscillations in the alpha and beta range in order to control Virtual Environments. In the project SM4ll BCI technology is combined to middleware software interfacing with smart home technology. The experience and technology of both projects will be used in BrainAble to speed up the developments. Within the Rehabilitation Gaming System project G.TEC develops together with UPF a tracking system based on video cameras.
