Meticube – Sistemas de Informação, Comunicação e Multimédia
Meticube – Sistemas de Informação, Comunicação e Multimédia is a software engineering company engaged to conceive, develop and integrate innovative, and at the same time reliable, IT solutions.
Meticube started its business in the railway sector. Along the first 6 years of its operation, the company developed more than 40 IT platforms, systems and applications for railway customers like CP - Comboios de Portugal EPE, REFER - Rede Ferroviária Nacional EPE and Metro-Mondego SA, turning into the leading provider of IT solutions in this sector. Some of those systems are highly mission-critical, such as systems for speed limit management, access control, level crossing supervision and control and traffic management.
Among others, the company is specialized in the development of mission-critical, 24x7, distributed data processing and data management systems based on a large spectrum of technologies. Meticube provides products, solutions and engineering services for a wide range of applications such as Supervision, Control and Automation, Business Process Management, Business Intelligence, Enterprise Application Integration and Mobility. Meticube disposes of a certified Research, Development and Innovation Management System (IDI) according to standard NP 4457.
Based on the excellence gained during the first years and the know-how and experience of the company's most important assets (its collaborators), Meticube started to invest strategically in the development of innovative technology, solutions and products. For that purpose the company participated and is participating constantly in national, European and other transnational R&D projects that are fundamental for the maintenance of the company's competitive edge.
Meticube has already contributed to several international and national R&TD and Technology Implementation projects, related to AAL, IL, eHealth, Augmented Reality, Mobility and Transportation.
In the IST i2home - Intuitive Interaction for Everyone with Home Appliances based on Industry Standards (www.i2home.org) - Meticube was responsible for the architecture, design and development of the core element of the i2home system, the UCH - Universal Control Hub and URC framework and software infrastructure which is based on ISO/IEC standard 24752. Similarly to BrainAble, Meticube has also a major interest in the future exploitation of the project’s results.
In several European and National projects, Meticube’s UCH is used as central middleware for integration of different devices and services, much in analogy to the BrainAble approach.
