Barcelona Digital Technology Centre (Barcelona Digital, BDCT)
Barcelona Digital is a Technology Centre devoted to the R+D+I of new Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) applications for Health, Security, Mobility and Energy, and Food and environment. Barcelona Digital performs R+D activities in the four aforementioned strategic domains participating in research projects with Industry and also projects publicly supported by national and European R+D programmes. Concerning Health area the main activity lines are: Technologies for rehabilitation support and remote therapy; interoperability of medical applications and electronic health records; evidence-based medical decision support systems; medical-oriented social networks; accessible and assistive technologies for elderly and disabled; ontologies for representing medical knowledge; and technologies for supporting nutritional research.
Barcelona Digital staff consists of 76 professionals (doctors, engineers, technicians, project managers), with multidisciplinary and complementary backgrounds in different ICT fields. Barcelona Digital also cooperates with other research centres and laboratories within the reach University community. Barcelona Digital has already several projects with private and public (national and regional) funding origin under execution: of which the Health projects are centred in the areas of neuro-rehabilitation, tele-assistance and accessible ICT: Neurolearning - Telemedical system of Neuropsychological Intervention based in Interactive Virtual Environments (2008-2010), Neurorehabilitation3E+D - Modelling of electromechanical systems for automatisation, sensorization and monitoring in functional rehabilitation (2008-2010), Rehabilita – the application of disruptive technologies for rehabilitation in order to personalize therapies, control their time and intensity, monitor and visualize biomedical information and obtain a specialized guide through the development of advanced tools and efficient and safe support services (2009 – 2013).

Furthermore it has several proposals for European projects under development. Additionally, the staff – both at R&D and management levels – brings with them several years of experience in preparation, coordination, management and successful exploitation of regional, national and European R&D projects. |
