AbilityNet

AbilityNet is the largest NGO in the UK focussed on all aspects of Digital Inclusion for people with a disability. In 2007 AbilityNet reached some 700,000 users via its advice and information services delivered directly or via partners. AbilityNet offers advice, assessments of need, consultancy, training and supply of assistive technologies to individuals and organisations across the private, public and voluntary sectors within the UK and beyond. AbilityNet employs some 50 people throughout the United Kingdom and has excellent relations with a range of user organisations to link to within the project.

AbilityNet’s skills lie in:
o Disabled user testing and feedback
o Development of training and training materials
o Web 2.0 application use and design o Dissemination and publicity beyond traditional academic networks .

With 25 years experience in the field of assistive technology and accessibility, AbilityNet is uniquely placed to enhance the offering of BrainAble by networking extensively with other stakeholders. AbilityNet assessors have a 94% customer satisfaction rating and are employed by major companies and Government departments to address individual needs in a systematic manner. Our accessibility team are all members of the Guild of Accessible Web Designers and we contribute to major networks including Telecentres Europe and Edean.
